Our paint studio brings each Archatrive piece to completion by achieving the look and romance of weathered and worn surfaces. Our skilled painters use layering, washing, and crackling techniques to age to perfection. Each piece emerges with subtle variations and individual character and identity. The final step in our finishes is a clear seal coat. All finishes are for interior use, although some may be adapted for outdoors when specified. Due to the nature of the processes used, there will be variation from one piece to the next. We primarily use kiln dried poplar and some pine in construction. Knots, which are a characteristic of pine, will bleed through adding to the changes in the finish, as the natural aging continues over time to enhance the piece.

ARCHATRIVE CRACKLES - tend to be more "Fragile" then other finishes. Moisture can cause paint to lift. Size and amount of crackling will vary from one piece to the next due to the process used to achieve the crackle. Not recommended for table tops where "wet" glasses may be a problem.

ARCHATRIVE CRACKLE WASHES - start with a crackle finish which is then washed with a blend of colors to tone down the crackle effect. Size and amount of crackling will vary from one piece to the next. Not recommended for table tops where "wet" glasses may be a problem. Can be done as a washed finish without crackle if requested.

ARCHATRIVE WASHES - achieved by blending several colors together over a base coat. More durable than crackles and a good choice for table tops.
